HD video network for iPhone
Akamai Technologies has launched an HD video disitrbution network that specifically targets the Apple iPhone alongside Microsoft's Silverlight and Adobe's Flash as players. The details are here at the Embedded Blog. HD video is not a huge driver for the iPhone at the moment, partly as cellular network data rates will not support it, but the Akamai netwotk can adapot the bit rate in real time depending on the target destination. But HD over WiFi will be important, and this is a place holder for the coming high data rate mobile broadband networks delivering HD.
